MBABANE – In a whirlwind of sporting excellence, swimmers Luca Fraser and Hayley Hoy are set to embark on yet another thrilling adventure, this time on the African continent.
The dynamic duo, fresh from their medal-winning exploits in various international competitions, has their sights firmly set on the African Junior Championships in Egypt, slated to take place in just two weeks’ time.
As the competition draws near, Luca and Hayley are no strangers to the thrill of victory and the pursuit of excellence. Their trophy cabinets are already bursting with accolades from their respective sports – tennis and basketball, hockey and soccer, chess and water polo, cricket and netball. But with their sights firmly set on the upcoming African junior championships, they are preparing to unleash their A-game once again.
Hayley, the great champion who went away with an incentive amounting to E 65,000, is a seasoned athlete with a passion for basketball and netball, but she later consistently demonstrated her prowess on swimming.
When asked about her strategy for the upcoming competition, Hayley revealed, “I’m going to Egypt at the end of April which I am very excited to,” she said.
She also added that swimming has been part of her life because she started swimming when she was young with the help of her grandmother.
“I have been swimming for longer than I can remember; there hasn’t been a time where I didn’t swim. My grandmother taught me to swim, when I was just a baby and swam my first ever level 0 gala despite not knowing how to swim long before that,” said Hayley.
Meanwhile, Luca Fraser, an accomplished swimmer and chess player, has been making waves in the international sporting scene.
With the medals that he already had under his belt, he is keenly focused on adding to his collection.
“My goal is to make a statement in Egypt,” Luca declared.
“I’m going to Egypt in two weeks’ time for junior champions. It is a very hard competition as there will be no age groups it is 18 and under. I am not just looking to participate, but to make a real splash in the competition. I’ve been working tirelessly with my coaches, perfecting my technique, and I’m confident that I’ll be able to make a difference,” he said.
As they prepare to take on the best of the Africa Junior champions, Luca and Hayley are both geared up to make their mark. The stage is set, and the competition promises to be fierce. Will they be able to bring home more medals and accolades to add to their impressive collection? The answer lies in the thrilling performances they are set to deliver in Egypt.
