MANZINI – The launch of Nozibele Mayaba’s Let Me Tell You Something took a musical turn when South African gospel artist Ntokozo Ngongoma stepped onto the stage, drawing the packed congregation into a moment of worship through song.

Ngongoma, known for his gospel repertoire and particularly the song Zonke Izindlela, performed at Metropolitan Evangelical Church on Saturday as part of a programme that combined faith, storytelling and music.

Rather than treating his appearance as a separate concert-style performance, Ngongoma’s set became part of the worship experience that shaped much of the afternoon. Congregants sang along to familiar passages, while others responded through movement and raised hands as the artist worked his way through his set.

The response from the audience reflected the familiarity of Ngongoma’s music among gospel listeners in the room. His performance also demonstrated how live gospel music can shift the atmosphere of a gathering, moving the congregation from listening to active participation.

Ngongoma was among several gospel voices featured during the launch. Earlier, South African artist Tabita Busani Ntiyane brought her own energy to the stage, while Eswatini gospel minister Shekinah Motsa also led the congregation in song.

The performances provided a musical thread throughout an event otherwise centred on the launch of Mayaba’s book and the story behind it.

For Ngongoma, the stage eventually became less about a formal performance and more about shared worship. With the congregation singing along and responding to the music, his set ended on a high note, leaving the room engaged in song and praise.
