NKHABA – In the lush hills of Nkhaba, one woman is turning heads with bold, vibrant earrings that are anything but ordinary. Meet Gcinwa Gwebu, a qualified accountant with a flair for fashion, and the creative force behind Sensational Jewellery—a growing brand known for its eye-catching, handcrafted earrings.
What began as a teenage fascination with statement earrings has blossomed into a passion-fuelled business. “I used to love big, popping earrings,” she says with a smile. After high school, she started designing earrings for herself—pieces so striking, they instantly caught the attention of everyone around her. “People kept asking where I got them. So in 2018, I decided to make more—for selling.”
Each pair is more than an accessory—it’s wearable art. What sets her work apart is her creative use of materials and her meticulous craftsmanship. “My jewellery can be made from anything. I once walked into a stationery store and came out inspired,” she laughs. “But it’s the neatness and detail that people notice most. That’s what makes them special.”
From bold and colourful to elegant and understated, Gwebu’s designs are one-of-a-kind—no mass production, no replicas. “You won’t find these pieces anywhere else,” she says proudly. “They’re designed to make a statement.”
One of her most memorable orders came when a customer asked for an exact copy of a Pinterest image. “It was tough to recreate, but I figured it out. She was thrilled,” Gwebu recalls.
Now, with a loyal and growing customer base, she is expanding her creative boundaries. She’s currently working on a new line of earrings made from polymer clay, promising fresh, bold styles and textures unlike anything she’s done before.
More than just accessories, her creations celebrate individuality, confidence, and creativity. “This is art—made to be worn,” she says.
