MBABANE– At 31, Bayanda Ncamphalala, a Hawane-born master of ceremonies, is carving his name into Eswatini’s entertainment scene, blending music, dance and personality to win hearts across the country. A father to a seven-year-old daughter and a self-described people’s person, Bayanda’s journey is one of passion, persistence and purpose.
Born in Mvutjini and raised in Mangwaneni, Mbabane, he grew up in a Christian home that shaped his values of humility and respect. His love for music began in high school, where he stood out as a tenor soloist and even won best singer in one year. However, it was only when he combined singing with dancing that he discovered his full potential as a performer.
Today, Bayanda is known as one of the country’s vibrant event MCs, bringing energy and connection to every stage he steps on. However, the journey has not been without challenges. From struggling to secure gigs to being booked and not paid, and even lacking proper management, he has faced setbacks that tested his determination.
A turning point came when he trended on social media after a moment involving “Mufasa,” where his honest response captured attention. Since then, his career has seen growth, with more bookings and better recognition.
“What keeps me going is the love from people,” he says. “When fans tell me not to stop, it reminds me that I’m doing something right.”
Despite being in the spotlight, Bayanda says he is often misunderstood. Many assume he lives a party lifestyle, yet he insists he is not an alcohol addict and values authenticity above all. “Never pretend to be someone you’re not,” he adds.
Inspired by leading local DJs such as Zulu D, he continues to refine his craft. His dream is to perform internationally, particularly in South Africa and Europe, while securing a strong management team.
For him, success means growth, fulfilment and achieving dreams through hard work, faith and patience.
