MBABANE – The Prince of Wales Stadium came alive with vibrant energy as students from across the Hhohho South region gathered for a spectacular showcase of talent, heritage, and creativity at the Schools Arts and Culture Competition.

Held under the theme Nkwe to temakhona nemasiko (Strength through Arts and Culture), the event was a joint effort by the Eswatini Schools Arts and Culture Association and the Inyatso Foundation. More than just a competition, the occasion served as a powerful platform for cultural expression, celebrating unity, diversity, and artistic excellence among the youth.

Students from a wide range of schools including St. Mark’s, St. Mary’s, MDS, SOS, Nsukumbili, Lobamba, and others poured their passion into traditional performances such as sibhaca, ummiso, and ingadla. They also explored modern art forms through cheerleading, drum majorettes, street drills, and military displays. The result was a breathtaking fusion of heritage and innovation, where each performance told a unique story rooted in identity and pride.

The festival atmosphere was electric as participants engaged audiences with energetic dance routines, soulful music, and visually striking props. The blend of traditional and contemporary performances highlighted the evolving nature of cultural expression in Eswatini, while preserving its deep-rooted values.

The event was not only a celebration of artistry but also a testament to the power of youth in shaping and preserving cultural identity. Performers demonstrated remarkable discipline, creativity, and teamwork embodying the spirit of Nkwe, a symbol of strength, resilience, and unity.

All participating schools were honored for their exceptional contributions, with each performance leaving a lasting impression on the audience and judges alike.
