ESWATINI SPORTS COUNCIL CEO CALLS FOR PRAYERS FOR ATHLETES

LOBAMBA – The Eswatini Sports Council CEO Darius Dlomo has urged the nation to rally behind the country’s young athletes through prayer as they head to Algeria for the African Schools Sports Games.

During the official send-off ceremony held at the Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) offices in Lobamba, the CEO emphasized the importance of national support, noting that the athletes carry not only their sporting talents but also the hopes and dreams of the country.

“These young athletes are our pride. They are not just going to represent themselves or their schools they are going to fly the Eswatini flag high. Let us all keep them in our prayers and support them in spirit,” the CEO said.

The send-off event was attended by various digintaries such as President of Eswatini Schools sports association Zakhele Myeni, President of Athletics Eswatini Zama Tsabedze, President Of EOCGA Bomber Mthethwa, coaches, parents, and team supporters. The mood was celebratory yet emotional, as the young athletes received words of encouragement and blessings from different stakeholders.

The team is set to compete in various disciplines including athletics, Taekwando, Boxing and swimming  among others. The games, which bring together school athletes from across the continent, are designed to promote youth development, talent identification, and continental unity through sport.

The CEO concluded his remarks by stressing why is the government commited contribute to nurturing young athletes, saying the Sports Council remains committed to supporting youth sports initiatives and ensuring that talented youngsters receive the recognition and resources they need to grow.

The team departs for Algeria totay with high hopes and great expectations from the nation.
