MBABANE— Rising musical sensation Mayibongwe Ngomane, popularly known as Catboy Eswatini, is using his talent to uplift the nation with the release of his latest hit, “Buyekhaya.”
Featuring his brother Pop Swxzie and sister Nolly N, the song which dropped on December 3, 2025, is a beautiful anthem of resilience and optimism.
The track carries a powerful, positive message aimed at supporting the youth. “It has a message and it brings hope to the orphans and children who grew up without the love of their mothers and grandmothers,” the artist explained. The response from his community has been overwhelmingly heartening, as he noted: “It made the people from my village to believe in me and it encouraged them to keep on supporting me.”
The heart of the song stems from Catboy’s own journey of overcoming adversity. After the passing of his beloved grandmother and his mother having to cross the border to provide for the family, he found strength in his music. “The reason I wrote the song was the death of my grandmother. She was everything to me, my brother and my mother,” he shared.
Despite the initial challenges of living alone with his older brother while their mother hustled for their future, Catboy turned those trials into a source of inspiration. “My mother then crossed the border to hustle for us and it was hard for her because she had to leave me and my older brother alone,” he added, noting how these experiences shaped his drive to succeed.
Since starting his musical journey in 2018 and moving to digital distribution in 2023, Catboy has shown incredible versatility across genres like Hip Hop, House, Afropop, Dancehall, and Amapiano. His dedication to his craft and his community shines through in his grassroots marketing efforts.
“When the song was published, there were less views and subscribers but I had to try hard marketing the song and asked my friends and fans to help me,” he said. To further connect with his audience, he released a promo music video to bring the song’s story to life.
