ARMY DAY SET FOR APRIL 10

MBABANE- His Majesty King Mswati III has officially declared April 10, 2026, as the date for the national celebration of Army Day, a significant occasion that honours the dedication and service of the country’s armed forces.

The event will take place at the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF) Headquarters in Nokwane under the theme “The Safety of the Nation is Our Priority.” The annual celebration highlights the commitment of the defence force to protecting the Kingdom and supporting national development.

UEDF Public Affairs Officer Major Sandile Gwebu confirmed the announcement and said preparations are already underway for the 53rd Army Day celebrations.

As part of the build-up to the main event, the defence force will embark on a series of regional community campaigns aimed at strengthening relations between the military and communities across the country.

The outreach programme will be conducted on the following dates:

  • March 7, 2026 – Manzini Region at Luve
    • March 14, 2026 – Hhohho Region at Madlangempisi
    • March 28, 2026 – Shiselweni Region at Hlathikulu
    • April 3, 2026 – Lubombo Region at Mpaka

The campaigns are expected to bring the defence force closer to the public while showcasing the role of the UEDF in safeguarding the nation and contributing to community development.

Army Day remains one of the country’s key national events, celebrating the professionalism, discipline and patriotism of soldiers who continue to serve the Kingdom with honour. The upcoming 53rd celebration is expected to once again demonstrate the strong bond between the defence force and the people of Eswatini as the nation gathers to recognise the importance of peace, security and unity.
