MANZINI – The beat of Amapiano is set to echo across the Mavuso Sports Centre on May 30 as local entertainer Sbu The Drum DJ prepares to host the fifth edition of his much-anticipated One Man Show.
The event is expected to draw thousands of music lovers from across Eswatini and beyond for a night of high-energy performances, vibrant entertainment and a celebration of the Amapiano sound that continues to dominate Africa’s music scene. According to organisers, the show will feature South African Amapiano pioneers Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa, popularly known as the Scorpion Kings, who are widely recognised for helping shape and popularise the genre.
Speaking about the event, Sbu The Drum DJ said the fifth edition marks an important milestone for the brand. “Sbu De Drum DJ is a brand that believes in growing, so this year we felt like it was the right time to take the event to the next level,” he said.
He explained that the decision to host the show at Mavuso Sports Centre was influenced by the vision of hosting a large crowd. “We chose Mavuso because it is the best venue that can accommodate the number of people we want to host. The plan is to have about 5 000 people and even more,” he added.
The show will not only feature international stars but will also shine a spotlight on local talent including Linda Dlamini, True Classic, Mco Jamrock and Thaifo Son, with more artists expected to be added to the line-up.
Sbu said collaborating with South African artists helps elevate Eswatini’s music industry. “Working with SA artists puts us on the map as young Swazi artists and opens opportunities for new connections and deals,” he explained.
The event will also support upcoming talent, with six young DJs set to perform on stage and each receiving E3 000 after being voted for by fans.
Early bird tickets are currently available for E100 at Galitos stores and Ocean Cuisine, with sales ending on March 31. Sbu encouraged fans to secure their tickets early as demand continues to grow.
“Fans can expect nothing but a fired-up show,” he said. “This will be the best One Man Show edition we have ever done.”
