MATSAPHA– The Royal Eswatini Police Service has successfully concluded a two-week community safety workshop for 31 police officers, aimed at strengthening crime prevention efforts and improving engagement between law enforcement officers and the communities they serve.
The training programme ended on March 6, 2026, at the Matsapha Police Academy. The workshop brought together recently deployed officers from several key departments within the police service, including Community Safety, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), DCS and Traffic. The initiative was designed to equip officers with practical skills that will enable them to work more effectively with communities and respond to emerging public safety challenges.
During the two-week programme, participants received training in communication, public speaking and community engagement, all of which are considered essential skills for modern policing. Police officials explained that improving these skills will help officers build stronger relationships with residents and encourage greater cooperation in efforts to prevent crime.
The training also focused on the importance of community policing, a strategy that encourages close collaboration between police officers and the public in addressing safety concerns. By strengthening communication channels between officers and community members, the police service hopes to improve public trust while ensuring that citizens play an active role in promoting safety within their neighbourhoods.
A total of 31 officers from various police stations across the country successfully completed the programme. Police leadership noted that building stronger relationships between law enforcement and the public is essential in addressing crime and ensuring safer communities. Through continued training and skills development, the police service aims to improve service delivery while strengthening cooperation with residents in maintaining peace and order.
The completion of the workshop marks another step in the Royal Eswatini Police Service’s ongoing commitment to strengthening community policing and enhancing crime prevention initiatives across the Kingdom.
