MBABANE – Gospel artist Sabelo Matse, a person with disability whose talent and determination have captured the hearts of Eswatini, is set to take his message of hope beyond the nation’s borders.
On March 25, 2026, Matse received generous support from the Deputy Prime Minister’s (DPM) Office and key partners during a special ceremony held at the DPM Office to facilitate his upcoming trip to Zimbabwe from March 27 to 29.
This milestone comes on the heels of his remarkable performance at Eswatini’s first-ever Music and Arts Festival for Persons with Disabilities, held on September 27, 2025, at The Luke Commission Events Centre. The historic festival, supported by the DPM Office and the Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC), celebrated inclusion, talent, and the extraordinary potential of artists who overcome barriers to inspire others.
Reflecting on the support he has received, Matse said, “I am deeply thankful to all partners who have supported me. Your belief in the power of art to transform lives inspires me every day. This journey is not just mine — it is for every person who dares to dream.”
The March 25 ceremony at the DPM Office was a vibrant display of collaboration and generosity. The DPM Office, alongside Cabinet Ministers, presented a cash donation of E14 500, ensuring that Matse will travel comfortably with companion Hlalisile Tsabedze. Eswatini Air, represented by Marketing and Communications Manager Batsabile Nkambule, handed over the airplane tickets that will carry the artist to Zambia.
Honourable Deputy Prime Minister, Senator Thulisile Dladla, praised the collective spirit of inclusion and support. “Supporting Sabelo is more than a donation; it is an investment in hope, talent, and the potential of our society. By uplifting persons with disabilities, we celebrate courage, creativity, and the human spirit,” she said.
Matse also received a thoughtful package from Ms. Alpa Ashraff, on behalf of the Honorary Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Mr. Kareem Ashraff. The package included two bespoke suits, essential toiletries, and E2000 in cash, ensuring he is fully prepared to shine on the international stage.
During his time in Zambia, Matse will be hosted by Edd Branson Publishers, who are providing professional studio recording opportunities and logistical support. This partnership highlights a shared vision to ensure that Eswatini’s talent reaches international audiences while continuing the momentum of inclusion and artistic excellence.
Sabelo Matse’s journey is a beacon of hope and a shining example of what is possible when talent, perseverance, and collective support intersect. As he prepares to take his music across borders, the nation stands proudly behind him, inspired by his story of courage, resilience, and the transformative power of gospel music.
