MBABANE – Life changing support came for a LaTsamela A.M.E Primary School learner on 27 March 2026, after Bunye Betfu Buhle Betfu Chairperson Fortunate Lukhele pledged to sponsor her high school education during a uniform donation event.

Yenzokuhle Lukhele, a high performing but financially constrained learner, was recognised during the event and offered full support for her next phase of schooling. The pledge was made in the chairperson’s personal capacity.

Moments after receiving her school uniform, Yenzokuhle was called forward, where she was informed of the sponsorship. The announcement left her visibly emotional as the reality of the opportunity began to sink in.

Overcome with gratitude, she embraced Lukhele as tears flowed, marking a turning point in her academic journey.

Speaking at the event, Lukhele said investing in young people is critical, particularly where financial challenges risk limiting potential. She added that she will engage both the school and the learner’s family to formalise the arrangement and ensure continuity as the pupil progresses to high school.

The chairperson encouraged Yenzokuhle to remain focused and to make full use of the opportunity presented to her.

For Yenzokuhle, the support represents more than financial assistance, it is a pathway to a brighter future. “I will work hard and make sure I get good grades so I can go to a good high school,” she said.

Her story reflects the broader challenges faced by many learners across the country, where academic potential is often hindered by economic constraints. While institutional support remains vital, moments like this highlight the impact of individual intervention in changing lives.

For the school community, the gesture served as a reminder that meaningful change can begin with a single decision. As the event concluded, one thing was clear, for one learner, the future had taken a new direction through a personal commitment to support her education.
