MANZINI– Six hours in, most concerts would be winding down. At the Itende Massive Show, that is when the night will still have plenty of room to go.
The annual gospel gathering is returning on November 20, bringing a large line-up of performers from Eswatini and South Africa for an overnight programme running from 6pm until 6am at Metropolitan Church Manzini.
What stands out about this year’s show is not simply the number of names, but the scale of the programme. More than 30 performers announced, creating a line-up that brings together different voices within the gospel music scene for one extended night.
Among the performers are Sphamandla Ngubane, Siphe Tabedze, Dabulamaziwe Tsabedze, Sinethemba Masuku, Sihleliwe Vilane, Sthabiso Khumalo, Nosimilo Mamba, Sihle Gina, Noncedo Xulu, Lwazi Dlamini, Owenkosi Ngama, Gcinile Ladyee Dlamini, Yolanda Mngetotulu, Mpho Nhleko, Ntsetselelo Ndwandwe, Lungelo Mkhunene, Thabiso Mavundla, Snenhlahla Mathunjwa and Nsamle Mthembu, among others.
The programme will be hosted by Mnqobi Tsabedze, with the performers forming the centre of a show designed around an extended gospel experience rather than a short concert slot. The event also carries a cross-border element, with the organisers describing the line-up as bringing artists from both Eswatini and South Africa. That gives the show a broader regional footprint while keeping its base in Manzini.
For the audience, the unusual part may simply be the clock. A show beginning at 6pm and ending at 6am leaves the music running through the evening, midnight and into the following morning. With its unusually long running time and extensive line-up, the Itende Massive Show is shaping up around one simple idea: the gospel stage does not have to go quiet when the night gets late.
