MBABANE— Police have swiftly arrested five suspects and recovered an undisclosed amount of money just hours after an ATM bombing incident in Mankayane early this morning.
The suspects, believed to be of South African origin, were intercepted at Kadeda while driving towards Sicunusa. Their arrest follows a rapid response by law enforcement agencies, demonstrating strong coordination and efficiency in tackling crime.
Earlier, at around 1:30am, a gang of six suspects allegedly targeted an Eswatini Bank ATM in Mankayane, using explosives to gain access to the machine and steal cash. A security guard on duty described the incident as a terrifying ordeal, as the suspects executed the attack under the cover of darkness.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, with efforts underway to locate the sixth suspect still at large.
The quick arrests and recovery of stolen money highlight the effectiveness of Eswatini’s security forces in responding decisively to criminal activities and ensuring public safety.
