MBABANE – Eswatini’s economy grew by 5.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025, driven mainly by the services sector, according to the Quarterly Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Bulletin released by the Central Statistical Office, highlighting improved economic activity and resilience across key industries.
The growth marks a sharp rise from the 1.3 percent recorded during the same period in 2024, signalling renewed momentum in the country’s economic performance.
GDP measures the total value of all goods and services produced within a country over a specific period and remains a key indicator of economic health. The latest bulletin provides insight into sectoral contributions and overall economic trends.
According to the report, “the economy recorded a notable increase in growth during the fourth quarter of 2025,” reflecting steady recovery despite ongoing global and regional challenges.
The tertiary sector, which includes wholesale and retail trade, information and communication, and financial services, emerged as the main driver of growth. The Central Statistical Office stated that “the expansion in the services sector significantly contributed to the overall positive performance of the economy.”
Construction activities also contributed positively, pointing to continued infrastructure development and investment. This growth is viewed as critical in stimulating job creation and supporting broader economic stability.
The report underscores the importance of reliable data in shaping policy decisions, with government and stakeholders relying on such insights to guide economic planning and targeted interventions.
Analysts say the improved performance reflects resilience within the domestic economy and growing confidence across sectors, particularly as demand continues to recover.
As Eswatini builds on this upward trajectory, sustained investment, sectoral diversification, and continued policy support will be key to maintaining growth and ensuring long-term, inclusive economic development.
