MBABANE – Former Minister of Finance and Central Bank of Eswatini (CBE) Governor Martin Dlamini says the highway to Sikhuphe from Manzini presents countless economic benefits.
He made these remarks while conveying a congratulatory message to His Majesty the King on his 40-year reign and 58th birthday on Eswatini TV News presented by Kusile Breakfast Show on April 21, 2026.
“We wish all the best for His Majesty King Mswati III. He has worked tirelessly for the nation and he continues to encourage the nation to embrace the ‘Nkwe’ directive in development of the country,” he said.
Dlamini said the King wanted both government and the private sector to work towards creating more job opportunities for Emaswati. He said the King continued to lead in the call to improve Eswatini infrastructure because any developed country must have quality infrastructure.
The former legislator said he has seen the development or growth in infrastructure development of the country while he served in public office under His Majesty the King’s leadership.
The former Governor of the Central Bank said a while ago, he studied about the road constructed leading to King Mswati III International Airport at Sikhuphe from Manzini and realised that it presented countless economic benefits for the nation.
“We appreciate His Majesty the King and we congratulate him on his 40-year reign of the kingdom. The country continues to develop.
When I assumed public office, the economic growth was under 2% and as things stand, it is now at 5%, which means there is progress. This means there were few job opportunities and the unemployment rate stood below 30%,” he said.
He said the King must be congratulated on his efforts as the has been significant achievements over the past 40 years while His Majesty has been on the Throne. He said a lot was yet to be achieved under His Majesty the King’s leadership. He said the King deserves recognition for all his efforts.
