“MTUKULU” HITS 100K STREAMS ON SPOTIFY

MBABANE – Eswatini musician Lyrikal Busta, whose real name is Thandolwethu Masuku, is celebrating a major milestone as his latest single “Mtukulu”, featuring South African artist IntabayaseDubai, surpasses 100 000 streams on Spotify.

The song has quickly gained attention for its meaningful message and unique storytelling style. Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Lyrikal Busta said: “What inspired me to create the song ‘Mtukulu’ is unity. I wrote the song during the time of homophobic happening around SA… so I wanted to emphasise the power of unity.”

He explained that the collaboration itself reflects this message, bringing together artists from Eswatini and South Africa. The track also carries a deeper narrative. “When you listen to the song, it speaks and bridges the gap between two generations… it’s a conversation between a grandfather and grandchild,” he said.

The collaboration with IntabayaseDubai came naturally after the success of their previous work together. “We met at a show… he liked my music and invited me to the studio. We did ‘365 Days’, so ‘Mtukulu’ is like a follow-up of that success,” Lyrikal Busta shared. Their earlier collaboration has already achieved over 1.3 million views on YouTube.

Through “Mtukulu”, Lyrikal Busta aims to encourage understanding across generations. “It creates that deep understanding and acceptance of two generations with one common ground, which is unity,” he added.

Reacting to the song’s growing success, he said: “I am ecstatic and very excited. This is a milestone for me coming from a country like Eswatini… it inspires me to do more and push our slogan of taking Eswatini music to the world.”
