LOBAMBA – His Majesty King Letsie III of the Kingdom of Lesotho has paid glowing tribute to King Mswati III, describing his leadership as exemplary, selfless and instrumental in ensuring stability and unity in Eswatini and beyond.
King Letsie said this on behalf of other visiting Heads of State and Government and other dignitaries. This was during the country’s double celebrations held at Somhlolo National Stadium on Friday, April 24, 2026. The event marked His Majesty’s 58th birthday and 40 years on the throne.
A testament to enduring leadership
Speaking during the celebrations, King Letsie III said the dual milestones were not only a personal achievement for the King, but also a powerful symbol of enduring leadership and national resilience.
He noted that presiding over a nation for four decades was a rare and remarkable feat, reflecting dedication, consistency and a profound sense of duty.
King Letsie III emphasised that, in a time characterised by global political, economic and social challenges, His Majesty King King Mswati III had remained a pillar of stability, offering calm and clear direction for the Kingdom.
“Your leadership has provided continuity and a strong moral compass at a time when decisive and principled action is essential to safeguard unity, stability and shared prosperity,” he said.
Preserving culture while shaping the future
On behalf of the visiting leaders, the King also commended the His Majesty King Mswati III for preserving Eswatini’s rich cultural heritage while steering the country towards a progressive future.
He said His Majesty had successfully balanced tradition with modern development, ensuring that cultural identity remains intact while embracing growth and transformation.
Furthermore, he acknowledged the King’s commitment to promoting investment in key sectors, which has strengthened the country’s economic foundation and created opportunities for sustainable development.
