MBABANE – The Indalo Exhibition is set to return in 2026, bringing a celebration of culture, creativity and international collaboration as Eswatini marks 50 years of partnership with the European Union.
The exhibition will run from May 1 to May 8, 2026, at the Alliance Française de Mbabane, where it will once again open its doors to the public following successful showcases in Europe.
The Indalo Exhibition, whose name reflects themes of nature and creation, is a sustainable design platform that highlights the work of emaSwati artisans in collaboration with European designers. It merges traditional SiSwati craftsmanship, such as Lutindzi grass weaving, with contemporary, eco-friendly design concepts aimed at global markets.
Having debuted at Paris Design Week in 2024 and 2025, the exhibition has grown into an international showcase, positioning Eswatini’s creative industry on the global stage. Visitors can expect a diverse display of handwoven products, ceramics, sculptural works and woodcraft, all produced using locally sourced natural materials.
Beyond the displays, the exhibition offers interactive experiences, including basket-weaving workshops, ceramic painting sessions and curated tastings of locally produced goods, providing an immersive cultural experience for visitors of all ages.
The initiative forms part of the broader “Eswatini: Promoting growth through competitive alliances” programme. Supported by the European Union in Eswatini and implemented by the International Trade Centre in partnership with government, the programme aims to strengthen inclusive trade, enhance private sector development and unlock export opportunities for local producers.
Through this platform, institutions are also improving their ability to analyse trade data, understand tariffs and identify new markets, contributing to sustainable economic growth and long-term development.
The return of the Indalo Exhibition is expected to further empower local artisans while showcasing Eswatini’s rich heritage and innovation to both local and international audiences.
