MBABANE– A determined group of farmers in Sigangeni is converting coordinated effort into tangible economic gains, with projections pointing to more than E2.1 million in revenue from maize production this season.
Thirteen farmers are working collectively across 85.5 hectares, demonstrating how structured agricultural support can drive both productivity and community upliftment. Backed by over E840 000 in production inputs, the cluster expects to harvest an estimated 342 metric tonnes of maize, reinforcing the area’s contribution to national food security.
The initiative, supported by the Eswatini Water and Agricultural Development Enterprise (EWADE), reflects a deliberate shift towards organised, results-oriented farming. By aligning resources and sharing expertise, the farmers have improved efficiency while reducing production risks.
From one season to the next, the land is responding to disciplined effort, with the project already signalling broader socio-economic benefits. Increased yields are expected to translate into stronger household incomes, improved access to basic needs, and expanded opportunities for families within the community.
Crucially, the impact extends beyond production statistics. The initiative is strengthening livelihoods and fostering resilience, positioning agriculture as a reliable pathway for sustainable rural development. Communities are not only producing more, they are building systems that can endure future challenges.
The message from the fields is clear and grounded in experience “From one season to the next, the land continues to answer hard work with promise.”
As harvest approaches, Sigangeni stands as a compelling example of how strategic investment and farmer empowerment can unlock growth. The cluster’s progress highlights the value of partnerships in advancing agricultural transformation and sustaining economic momentum.
With returns expected to exceed E2.1 million, the farmers’ efforts signal more than a successful season, they point to a replicable model for inclusive development rooted in agriculture.
