MBABANE – Thirty-six women have successfully completed a transformative skills development programme aimed at promoting self-reliance, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment. The graduates were honoured during a ceremony celebrating the completion of a three-month training initiative that equipped them with practical and income-generating skills.
Implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture through Home Economics Officers, the programme provided training in sewing, baking, detergent production and entrepreneurship. Participants gained hands-on experience designed to help them establish small businesses, create employment opportunities and improve their household incomes.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, Nozizwe Tsabedze Zwane congratulated the graduates for embracing opportunities that have the potential to transform their lives and communities. She encouraged them to pursue growth-oriented business ventures, build strategic partnerships and maintain high standards in the products and services they offer.
She emphasized that the skills acquired through the programme would remain a valuable asset throughout their lives and could serve as a foundation for greater economic opportunities. Zwane further reaffirmed Government’s commitment, through the Ministry of Agriculture, to empowering emaSwati, particularly women, through free practical skills training programmes that contribute to poverty reduction and sustainable livelihoods.
The programme received support from World Vision Eswatini, which donated fabric and sewing materials to strengthen the training process. The collaboration reflects ongoing efforts between Government and development partners to address unemployment and support community development initiatives.
Graduates expressed excitement and pride as they received certificates marking the successful completion of the programme. Many described the training as a life-changing opportunity that restored confidence, enhanced their skills and opened pathways toward financial independence.

Special recognition was also extended to instructor Lindiwe Gule Madonsela for her dedication to equipping participants with practical skills capable of improving lives, strengthening households and contributing to community development.
The graduation ceremony highlighted the positive impact of skills development initiatives in empowering women, promoting entrepreneurship and building resilient communities that can contribute meaningfully to Eswatini’s economic growth.
