MBABANE– cultural artist Sancheziey is preparing to release a new culture-rich anthem titled Halaaalaaa, a song inspired by celebration, gratitude and Swati identity.
The artist said the song was born from the current national mood as emaSwati continue celebrating the 40/58 milestone, marking the 40th anniversary of His Majesty King Mswati III’s ascension to the throne and his 58th birthday. According to Sancheziey, the atmosphere of celebration across the country inspired him to create music that reflects that spirit.
Beyond national celebrations, the artist said Halaaalaaa also reflects his personal journey. Since breaking into the music scene in March last year, he has performed on major stages including Makoti Festival, MoMo Experience and several national events attended by members of the Royal Family.
“I have all the reasons to say Halaaalaaa,” he said, expressing gratitude for the growth of his career and the increasing recognition of his Salukazana brand both locally and internationally.
Sancheziey explained that the song carries a universal message of celebration. Whether people are graduating, getting married, achieving personal milestones or celebrating victories, he believes everyone has a reason to say “Halaaalaaa”.
One of the standout features of the track is the introduction of Licilongo, a traditional Swati cultural sound, into his music. The artist said his deeper involvement in cultural traditions allowed him to discover and embrace unique Swati sounds that strengthen the identity of his music.
“If this sound was played in Nigeria or Australia, a cultural emaSwati would immediately recognise it as coming from home,” he said.
The song incorporates several traditional elements, including Lifahlawane, Licilongo, Luveve and various Swati chants. Sancheziey said the arrangement was carefully crafted to authentically represent Swati culture while remaining true to traditional practices.
He described Halaaalaaa as unlike anything he has released before. While previous songs such as Siyabonga Gogo and Batawuvuma celebrated culture, the new release reflects a deeper understanding and connection to Swati traditions.
Adding excitement ahead of the release, Sancheziey has opened an opportunity for aspiring performer Imbali to join him on stage during the upcoming MoMo Experience on June 27. To stand a chance of performing Halaaalaaa alongside the artist, participants are encouraged to take part in the Halaaalaaa Challenge on TikTok and tag Sancheziey using the hashtag #Halaaalaaa.
The song forms part of the upcoming Umntfwane Live Album, which is scheduled for release in August. Although fans will have to wait a little longer, Sancheziey said listening session dates will soon be announced.
He encouraged emaSwati to be patient and support the project, adding that Halaaalaaa is only the beginning of more culturally inspired music to come.
