…South Korean-funded initiative expected to improve living conditions for vulnerable residents

MBABANE– Residents of Ezulwini and Mantabeni are set to benefit from a decent housing programme aimed at improving living conditions and providing access to better housing for vulnerable members of the two communities.
The development was announced on Sunday, June 14, 2026, during a prayer service held at Mantabeni Umphakatsi.
Speaking during the gathering, Ezulwini Indvuna Sifiso Mashampu Khumalo, who also oversees Mantabeni, informed residents that the housing initiative had been made possible through support from funders based in South Korea.
According to Khumalo, the programme will begin in Ezulwini before extending to Mantabeni, ensuring that residents in both communities benefit from the project.
Housing A Basic Need
Khumalo said access to decent housing remained one of the most important basic needs and expressed optimism that the programme would significantly improve the lives of beneficiaries.
He stressed that Mantabeni residents deserved to benefit from the same opportunities available to residents of Ezulwini because the two communities were closely linked.
“Mantabeni is part of Ezulwini, and residents here should benefit from the same developments and opportunities,” he said.
The Indvuna noted that improving housing conditions would contribute towards enhancing the dignity and well-being of families while promoting safer and healthier living environments.
Call for Unity
Beyond housing, Khumalo encouraged residents to continue supporting one another and to maintain unity within the community.
He urged community members to ensure that no one was left behind, especially those facing difficult circumstances.
“We should always look after one another and make sure that no one suffers while others are able to assist,” he said.
He added that community solidarity remained important in ensuring development initiatives achieved their intended impact.
Leaders Attend Prayer Service
The event attracted several community and political leaders, including Siphocosini Member of Parliament (MP) Mduduzi Matsebula.
Also present were members of the Inkhundla Council, including Siphocosini Indvuna Yenkhundla Wilton “Jazi” Mamba and Mantabeni Bucopho Themba “Hembe” Dlamini.
The leaders joined residents during the prayer service and discussions on development opportunities for the area.
Residents Encouraged To Apply For Development Support
Speaking on behalf of the Inkhundla Council, MP Matsebula encouraged residents to make greater use of development opportunities available through the Inkhundla system.
He urged community members to submit applications not only for income-generating projects but also for initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure and living conditions within their communities.
Matsebula said residents should take advantage of available programmes designed to uplift communities and improve livelihoods.
He added that community-driven development projects remained an important tool in addressing local challenges and creating opportunities for economic empowerment.
Hope For Improved Living Conditions
The planned housing initiative has been welcomed as a positive step towards improving the quality of life for residents in Ezulwini and Mantabeni.
Once implemented, the programme is expected to provide decent housing to deserving beneficiaries while contributing to broader community development efforts in the area.
