LAWUBA– The children of the late Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala have been urged to honour their father’s legacy by remaining united and not questioning the decisions he made during his lifetime.
Speaking during Maphalala’s funeral service at Lawuba on Saturday, Judicial Service Commission representative Smanga Mamba, who is also the Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, urged the Chief Justice’s children to continue working together as a family.
“Don’t question your father’s decisions,” Mamba said, while encouraging the children to conduct themselves as though their father was still present and watching over them.
He said the children should remain united and support one another, stressing that their father’s legacy should serve as a guide to how they conduct themselves within the family.
Mamba said unity would enable the family to continue moving forward and uphold the values associated with the late Chief Justice.
“If you stay united you will receive blessings, but if you break apart you will not go anywhere,” he said.
Other speakers at the funeral also appealed for unity among Maphalala’s family members, including his wives.
They urged the wives to respect one another and continue working together in the interest of the family.
Judicial Commissioner Hhansense Dlamini also relayed a message concerning the family from Their Majesties.
He said Their Majesties had asked the Maphalala family to remain steadfast in prayer.
Dlamini said the message had been relayed by Her Majesty Indlovukazi, who had consistently encouraged people to remain in the presence of the Lord.
He added that His Majesty King Mswati III had called for peace and unity within the Maphalala family.
The messages came as family, members of the Judiciary, legal fraternity, traditional leaders and mourners gathered at Lawuba to bid farewell to the former Chief Justice.
