KaLANGA – “Count your blessings because that is where success begins.” That was the powerful message delivered by KaLanga Chief, Jozane Maziya, who urged emaSwati to embrace the power of thanksgiving, saying gratitude to God is the true secret behind every breakthrough in life.
Chief Jozane shared this on June 27, 2026, during the KaLanga Umphakatsi Thanksgiving Prayer Service, where he told hundreds of Christians that gratitude to God opens the door to blessings, strength and success.
He said his own life’s journey has taught him that success comes through giving thanks to God and trusting Him completely.
“My secret is giving thanks to God. That is where success comes from. When you trust God, He does things at the right time and in ways that will shock you,” he said.
The Chief encouraged the congregation to develop a personal relationship with God through prayer, saying God gives strength to those who trust Him.
Reflecting on the rapid development of the new KaLanga Umphakatsi, Chief Maziya said many people were amazed when he declared that within three months the community would be using the new facilities. The project was successfully completed in September 2025, which he said demonstrated God’s faithfulness to those who trust Him.
Chief Jozane also called on people to let go of bitterness and live peaceful lives.
“I hate no one. I do not hold grudges. We are on this earth to be happy, not to spend our lives hurting other people. Those who speak to God about me, may God give them long life,” he said.
He expressed joy at seeing hundreds of Christians gathered to worship and thanked Their Majesties for supporting development in the KaLanga community, including the establishment of mining projects expected to create employment opportunities for local people.
The Chief further appealed to community members to continually pray for young people to secure employment and build brighter futures.
The gathering was also marked by an emotional testimony from Boyze Gama, who was introduced by Chief Jozane after receiving a Royal Pardon from His Majesty King Mswati III.
Gama revealed that he spent 35 years in prison after being incarcerated in 1992. He said he accepted Jesus Christ in 1997 while serving his life sentence and learned to trust God despite the difficult circumstances.
He said he has sought forgiveness from those he wronged and thanked Their Majesties together with the Correctional Services for giving him another chance in life.
Gama also recalled that in 2001 he received life-changing news when a delegation sent by His Majesty informed him that his death sentence had been commuted to life imprisonment.
Today, he holds a Degree in Psychology and said he is grateful for the opportunity to rebuild his life while serving the community. He also thanked the schools where he has been carrying out community service for treating him with dignity and respect.
Chief Jozane concluded by once again urging community members to count their blessings every day, saying a grateful heart opens the door to God’s favour, peace and lasting success.
Installed as Chief of KaLanga, Chief Jozane Maziya has become one of Eswatini’s prominent traditional leaders. He also serves as a Senator in Parliament for the 2023–2028 term, is a successful businessman, a board member of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC), and a champion of youth empowerment, cultural preservation and community development. Through annual thanksgiving prayer services, he continues to promote peace, economic growth, national unity and faith in God.
