EZULWINI – Laughter, honest conversations and powerful life lessons came together on Saturday as comedy duo Gogo Eswatini and S’lwane hosted the inaugural Mfowethu, uGrend? men’s wellness event at Happy Valley Hotel.
The event created a safe space for men to openly discuss issues affecting their mental health, personal growth, family life and overall wellbeing, while encouraging them to become better fathers, husbands and community leaders.
One of the day’s standout messages came from Pastor Clement Dlamini, who challenged fathers to become more intentional about being present in the lives of their children.
Dlamini urged men to make their families their first priority instead of allowing work and other commitments to distance them from their children.
He reminded attendees that fatherhood extends far beyond financial provision, saying children also need love, guidance, emotional support and consistent presence.
“Your greatest ministry begins at home,” he told the audience.
He encouraged fathers to take a genuine interest in their children’s dreams, daily experiences and personal struggles, warning against becoming strangers in their own homes.
Dlamini stressed that childhood is short and every missed moment is one that can never be regained. He said consistent involvement helps raise confident, responsible and emotionally secure children.
The pastor also highlighted the dangers of emotional absence, explaining that many young people seek acceptance from unhealthy influences when they do not receive affirmation at home.
He encouraged fathers to celebrate their children’s achievements, correct them with love and continually reassure them of their worth.
According to Dlamini, children who receive encouragement and emotional support from their fathers are less likely to rely on outside validation for their identity and self-esteem.
He added that fathers play a critical role in shaping confident individuals with strong character and a healthy sense of purpose.
Dlamini concluded by saying stronger families are built when fathers intentionally invest their time, attention and love every day, creating lasting relationships that benefit not only their children but society as a whole.
The inaugural Mfowethu, uGrend? event left many men inspired to embrace vulnerability, strengthen family bonds and redefine what it means to lead with purpose, love and presence.
