MBABANE – The dreams of young innovators across Eswatini received a meaningful boost as the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) stepped forward to support a national drive aimed at inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers and technology leaders.
Through a sponsorship valued at E10 000, FSRA has strengthened the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology’s National Science Month STEM Initiative and Awards Programme, providing support towards promotional items that will help promote the celebration of science, technology and innovation among learners.
The sponsorship was officially handed over on July 7, 2026, during a ceremony attended by representatives from both institutions and received by Acting Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology Ms Macanjana Motsa.
The contribution reflects the growing partnership between government and the private sector in creating opportunities for young emaSwati to develop skills that are essential in a rapidly changing digital world.
The National Science Month programme is a flagship initiative aimed at nurturing a culture of scientific excellence, innovation and creativity among learners and young people across the country.
Through the initiative, the Ministry seeks to inspire increased participation in STEM education, promote problem-solving and innovation among learners, showcase emerging technologies and scientific achievements, while strengthening collaboration between government, academia, industry and development partners.
The programme also supports efforts to equip young people with digital and technical skills needed to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and contribute towards Eswatini’s digital transformation agenda.
Receiving the sponsorship, Motsa expressed appreciation to FSRA for investing in the country’s youth and supporting initiatives that promote science and technology.
“Your contribution of branded promotional materials valued at E10 000 is not only a financial contribution but a powerful statement of confidence in Eswatini’s youth and their potential in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education,” she said.
Motsa said the partnership demonstrates a shared commitment towards empowering young people with knowledge and skills that will enable them to succeed in an increasingly technology-driven world.
“This partnership strengthens our collective mission to nurture innovation, inspire academic excellence, and prepare young people to lead in technology-driven development,” she said.
She further emphasised that national development requires strong partnerships between the public and private sectors, noting that collaboration remains critical in ensuring the success of programmes that focus on youth empowerment and innovation.
“As Government, we recognize that the successful delivery of programmes of this nature depends on strong partnerships between the public and private sectors,” Motsa said.
She added that corporate support plays an important role in equipping learners with an innovative mindset that will enable them to contribute meaningfully to Eswatini’s digital transformation and socio-economic development.
The Ministry commended FSRA for demonstrating corporate leadership through its investment in youth development, education and innovation.
The National Science Month STEM Initiative and Awards Programme continues to provide a platform for learners to explore scientific concepts, develop technological solutions and showcase their creativity in addressing challenges facing society.
As Eswatini accelerates its digital transformation journey, partnerships such as the one between MICT and FSRA are expected to play a key role in building a generation of young innovators equipped to drive the country’s future growth.
