MBABANE- Mbabane police officers, through the focused and tireless work of the Domestic and Child Protection Services (DCS) Unit, have made a major breakthrough with the arrest of an alleged serial rapist linked to multiple serious offences in the capital.

The suspect, a 36-year-old man from Fonteyn, was arrested on January 29, 2026, at approximately 1900 hours, in connection with three rape cases and two attempted rapes reported within the Mbabane area.

According to police reports, the suspect allegedly targeted adult women during the early morning hours between 0700 and 1000, operating between January 13 and January 26, 2026.

He reportedly concealed his face and used a knife and a slasher to threaten and intimidate his victims.

The first confirmed case involved a 26-year-old woman from Sandla (SCOT), while two other victims, both 35 years old—are from the Mdzangwini area. Police further revealed that two additional women from Mdzangwini, aged 45 and 47, narrowly escaped sexual assault attempts.

In a courageous act of resistance, the 45-year-old woman fought back and managed to escape despite being sprayed with a harmful substance to the face. She later collapsed, but was saved from further harm when a concerned passer-by intervened.

Investigations are still ongoing, and police believe the suspect may be linked to additional cases. The Royal Eswatini Police Service has urged anyone who may have fallen victim to the suspect, or anyone with information that could assist the investigation, to come forward.

Police have commended the unwavering dedication and professionalism of the DCS investigating team, whose thorough work led to the arrest and removal of a dangerous suspect from the streets.

“We are here to serve the nation. Your safety remains our priority,” police said.
