MBABANE – Thousands of public service pensioners have received welcome financial relief after Government approved a 3.1 percent Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) to their monthly pension annuities, easing the pressure of rising living costs.
The Public Service Pensions Fund (PSPF) announced on July 17,2026 in a press statement that the salary increase for pensioners was approved by the Minister of Public Service in consultation with the Fund’s Board of Trustees. The adjustment is effective from April 1, 2026, and is being implemented through the July 17, 2026 pension payroll, meaning eligible pensioners will begin receiving the increased payments immediately.
The increase is expected to benefit retired public servants across the country who depend on their monthly pensions for essential needs such as food, transport, healthcare and household expenses.
In a statement, the Public Service Pensions Fund said the approved adjustment forms part of the annual Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for pension annuities. The Fund confirmed that the increase has already been processed and included in the July pension payroll.
Although the PSPF did not disclose the total number of beneficiaries or the financial value of the adjustment, the increase is expected to provide meaningful support to pensioners facing the continued impact of the cost of living.
The approval followed consultations between the Minister of Public Service and the Board of Trustees, in line with the Fund’s governance processes.
The announcement is likely to be welcomed by pensioners and their families, many of whom rely on pension income as their primary source of financial support after retirement.
