MBULUZI – Members of Parliament (MPs) have called on emaSwati to rally behind the Sibebe Survivor Walk, describing it as a noble initiative that not only promotes healthy living but also transforms lives through charitable work in communities across the country.

Hhukwini MP Alec Lushaba and Ludzeludze MP Nomkhosi Masuku made the call during the 2026 Sibebe Survivor Walk, where they commended organisers for their unwavering commitment to giving back to society.

Lushaba said the Sibebe Survivor Walk had become more than just an annual fitness event, noting that proceeds raised are used to support charitable causes that benefit communities nationwide.

“We know that the Sibebe Survivor Walk is organised for a charity cause. Whatever they make from this event is used for charity and to help communities all over the country,” he said.

The legislator praised organisers ( Mbuluzi – Mbabane Rotary Club) for consistently hosting the event and ensuring that its impact is felt by vulnerable communities. He said their charitable footprint over the years speaks volumes about the value of supporting the initiative.

He urged emaSwati to continue participating in the walk and supporting its humanitarian efforts, adding that collective support would enable organisers to reach even more communities in need.

Lushaba further pledged to mobilise residents in his constituency to participate in future editions of the event.

“Let us continue as a nation to support them in this charity work. I will mobilise communities in my constituency to continue participating,” he said.

Meanwhile, Ludzeludze MP Nomkhosi Masuku said the overwhelming turnout at this year’s event was a positive reflection of a nation that prioritises health and wellbeing.

She noted that seeing thousands of participants take on the Sibebe challenge demonstrates growing awareness of the importance of maintaining an active and healthy lifestyle.

“To see such a great turnout in numbers for people coming to participate is very encouraging. It shows that we are a nation that cares for its health and wellbeing,” she said.

Masuku, a long-time participant of the Sibebe Survivor Walk, revealed that she was taking part in the event for the ninth time this year, having started participating at a young age.

She said one of the most rewarding aspects of her involvement has been inspiring others to challenge themselves physically, regardless of age.

The MP shared that many participants have approached her after completing the climb to express gratitude for motivating them to take part after seeing her conquer Sibebe Rock.

“I think I have become a motivation to others because they are inspired and encouraged when they see an older person such as me climbing Sibebe Rock. They then come back and thank me later for inspiring them,” she said.

The two legislators agreed that the Sibebe Survivor Walk continues to play a critical role in fostering healthier communities while raising resources for charitable causes, and called on more Emaswati to support and participate in the initiative in the years to come.
