EZULWINI – Government has welcomed the newly opened Khanyisile HYM Clinic in Ezulwini, with Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini pledging that Government will work with the facility to ensure that it delivers maximum benefit to emaSwati.
The Prime Minister made the commitment on Thursday, September 10, 2026 during the official opening ceremony of the health facility at the Ezulwini Palazzo, shortly after His Majesty King Mswati III officially opened and toured the clinic, which he christened Khanyisile HYM Clinic.
Dlamini said the clinic would serve the Ezulwini community and people of Eswatini, describing its establishment as a significant gesture of goodwill by its founders.
“His Majesty’s Government acknowledges the importance of such facilities and partnerships that complement Government’s efforts, in keeping with the Kingdom’s laws and regulations governing the sector, to improve healthcare services in the Kingdom,” the Prime Minister said.
He said Government was looking forward to establishing a productive working relationship with the health centre to ensure that both the facility and the country’s citizens derived optimal benefit from the partnership.
“We look forward to working together with the health centre to ensure mutual and optimal benefit for emaSwati,” Dlamini said.
The opening of the clinic adds a new healthcare facility to Ezulwini, an area that has undergone substantial development over the past four decades and now combines tourism and hospitality, diplomacy and corporate investment, retail and services, as well as residential and community life.
The facility is therefore positioned to serve a growing population and workforce in the Valley, including employees working in hostels, offices, shops and public institutions, as well as families and residents who have made Ezulwini their home.
It is also expected to benefit surrounding rural communities that rely on Ezulwini for economic opportunities and access to services.
Health Minister Mduduzi Matsebula, speaking at the same ceremony, said the clinic represented more than a new health facility, describing it as a partnership for shared development that brings healthcare closer to communities and contributes to Eswatini’s pursuit of Universal Health Coverage.
Matsebula paid tribute to His Majesty’s leadership, saying the King’s guidance had consistently placed health and community wellbeing at the centre of national development.
He said the country’s commitment to Universal Health Coverage was anchored on ensuring that people could access the health services they needed without suffering financial hardship.
The Minister also thanked the Ezulwini Royal Kraal and traditional leadership for allocating land at Nyonyane and supporting the project.
He said the development demonstrated how traditional leadership and modern health systems could work together to improve the lives of Emaswati.
The project has also strengthened cooperation between Eswatini and international partners, particularly the Hee Yeon Memorial (HYM) family and organisation from the Republic of Korea.
Matsebula expressed deep appreciation for their contribution towards establishing the clinic, saying the partnership went beyond the construction of a physical facility and represented solidarity, compassion and a shared belief in equitable access to quality healthcare.
With the clinic now officially opened, the Ministry of Health is expected to work closely with its leadership to ensure that services comply with national healthcare standards.
Matsebula said the Ministry would assist the facility with standards relating to healthcare professionals, the handling of medicines and medical supplies, and the use of national guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
He revealed that the Ministry had been providing advice to the clinic’s staff on primary healthcare service expectations since construction began.
The Minister said the established communication between Government and the clinic’s leadership would provide a foundation for expanding healthcare services and attracting more segments of the population.
He further committed the Ministry to working with Khanyisile HYM Clinic to maintain high standards of service delivery, patient safety and respectful care.
The Prime Minister’s commitment and the Ministry’s technical support signal Government’s intention to ensure that the new facility becomes an effective partner in strengthening healthcare delivery in Ezulwini and beyond.
The official opening was attended by Their Majesties, members of the Royal Family, Cabinet, traditional leaders, Parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the Republic of Korea and the HYM partners, as well as other distinguished guests.
