MPOLONJENI – Lubombo Regional Administrator Themba Msibi has said the Career Expo 2026 is a practical demonstration of His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision of building a resilient economy driven by skills, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Welcoming Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini and delegates to the Career Expo at Mpolonjeni Inkhundla, Msibi said the initiative reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to equipping young people with the knowledge and opportunities needed to participate meaningfully in the country’s economic development.
Held under the theme, “Creating Opportunities for Entrepreneurial Career Growth,” the expo brought together government, the private sector, educational institutions and learners to expose young people to career pathways, entrepreneurship and skills development opportunities.
Msibi said true national development should not be measured solely by the construction of infrastructure, but by the opportunities created to enable young people to realise their full potential.
“The expo is in line with His Majesty King Mswati III’s vision of a resilient economy driven by skills, innovation and entrepreneurship,” he said.
He noted that creating opportunities for young people to acquire practical skills and entrepreneurial knowledge was essential for building a prosperous and self-reliant nation.
The Regional Administrator commended the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and Expo Eswatini team for successfully coordinating the event, saying their efforts were helping prepare the country’s future workforce for an evolving labour market.
He also applauded captains of industry for partnering with government by opening their doors to young people and inspiring them to pursue meaningful careers and business opportunities.
“The contribution of the private sector is vital because it gives young people a clearer understanding of the opportunities available while encouraging them to think innovatively,” he said.
Msibi further recognised the role played by educators and parents in shaping the next generation of workers, entrepreneurs and leaders, saying their guidance remained critical in nurturing talent and ambition among the youth.
Addressing learners attending the expo, he urged them to make full use of the opportunity by exploring different career options, embracing innovation and broadening their ambitions beyond seeking employment.
He challenged them to become job creators instead of job seekers, stressing that Eswatini needs entrepreneurs, artisans, scientists, educators and leaders who have confidence in their abilities and are prepared to contribute to national development.
“Our young people must think beyond finding jobs; they must think about creating them. Eswatini’s future depends on innovative and skilled citizens who believe in themselves and are ready to build businesses and create opportunities for others,” he said.
Msibi also thanked Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini for officiating at the event and for visiting the Lubombo Region, saying his presence demonstrated government’s continued commitment to youth empowerment and economic transformation.
He further expressed appreciation to all distinguished guests and stakeholders for supporting the initiative, expressing hope that the Career Expo would empower every young liSwati to contribute meaningfully to the development of both the Lubombo Region and the Kingdom of Eswatini.
