MBABANE– Mater Dolorosa High School (MDS) is celebrating a major milestone after its choir secured a place in the highly anticipated Eswatini Schools Choral Music Competition Champ of Champs, following an impressive performance in the national competition.
The achievement has sparked celebrations within the school community, with teachers, learners and staff coming together to honour the choristers for their dedication, discipline and musical excellence.
To recognise the choir’s success, the school hosted a special appreciation event for the learners. The celebration was made possible through contributions from members of staff, who used their own funds to ensure the choir received a memorable reward for their hard work.
The school also paid tribute to its choir teachers and conductors for their unwavering commitment to nurturing the learners’ talent and maintaining the high standards that have become synonymous with the MDS choir.
In a heartfelt moment during the celebration, the school recognised its Form 5 choristers, who will be representing Mater Dolorosa High School for the final time before sitting for their final examinations. The learners were presented with special tokens of appreciation in recognition of their years of dedication to the choir.
In a statement, Mater Dolorosa High School praised everyone who contributed to the choir’s journey.
“We are immensely proud to announce the outstanding performance of our students at the Eswatini Schools Choral Music Competition. Through dedication, discipline and beautiful harmony, our choir delivered a stellar performance that earned them a well-deserved spot in the upcoming Champ of Champs Competition,” the school said.
