MBABANE – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini has paid glowing tribute to outgoing World Health Organization (WHO) Representative to the Kingdom of Eswatini, Dr. Susan Tembo Zimba, describing her tenure as one that helped strengthen the country’s health system and improve the well-being of thousands of emaSwati.
The PM bid farewell to Dr. Tembo Zimba during a courtesy meeting held at the Private and Cabinet Office, where the two reflected on the close partnership that has existed between the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini and the World Health Organization throughout her assignment in the country.
The farewell meeting was marked by appreciation for years of collaboration that contributed to significant progress in public health, disease prevention, healthcare delivery and the country’s drive towards achieving Universal Health Coverage.

Dlamini said Dr. Tembo Zimba had played an important role in supporting Eswatini’s national health priorities through her leadership and commitment to strengthening cooperation between the Government and the World Health Organization.
He noted that the partnership had delivered meaningful gains in improving the country’s health sector, particularly in enhancing disease surveillance and response systems, strengthening healthcare services and supporting initiatives aimed at ensuring that every emaSwati has access to quality healthcare.
The PM also highlighted the collaborative efforts that enabled Eswatini to continue building a more resilient health system capable of responding effectively to emerging public health challenges while improving the quality of life of citizens.
He expressed Government’s sincere gratitude for Dr. Tembo Zimba’s dedication and professionalism throughout her service in the Kingdom, saying her contribution extended beyond technical support and demonstrated a genuine commitment to the country’s development.
“Your leadership, commitment and partnership have made a lasting contribution to Eswatini’s health sector. The progress achieved during your tenure will continue to benefit our people for many years,” Dlamini said.
Dlamini further acknowledged that the relationship between Eswatini and the World Health Organization had continued to grow from strength to strength under Dr. Tembo Zimba’s stewardship, with several health programmes receiving valuable technical guidance and support.
These efforts, he said, have helped the country make steady progress in strengthening healthcare systems, expanding access to essential health services and improving preparedness for health emergencies.
The PM also recognised the importance of international partnerships in achieving sustainable development, saying collaboration with organisations such as the WHO remains vital in addressing both existing and emerging health challenges.
As Dr. Tembo Zimba concludes her assignment in Eswatini, the Prime Minister wished her success in the next phase of her professional journey.
On behalf of the Government and the people of the Kingdom of Eswatini, he thanked her for her exemplary service, unwavering dedication and the lasting legacy she leaves behind.
For her part, Dr. Tembo Zimba expressed appreciation for the cooperation and support she received from Government and stakeholders throughout her tenure, saying it had been a privilege to work alongside Eswatini in advancing national health priorities.
Her departure marks the end of a significant chapter in the long-standing partnership between the Kingdom of Eswatini and the World Health Organization, a relationship that continues to contribute towards building a healthier, stronger and more resilient nation.
