MANZINI– The Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture (ENCAC) has launched a mobile stage unit and a new rehearsal space at the Manzini Arts Centre, creating additional opportunities for artists to develop their talents and prepare for performances.
The facilities are expected to improve access to creative spaces and equipment while supporting artists who may not have the resources to secure professional rehearsal venues or stage equipment.
The mobile stage will be used during arts and culture activities in different regions, allowing organisers to host festivals and creative programmes using professional equipment at more affordable rates. The stage has already been used at the Lubombo Regional Festival, which formed part of the ongoing NACA Awards programme.
The new rehearsal space is expected to provide artists with a dedicated environment where they can practise, collaborate and prepare for performances. The facility could also create opportunities for creatives from different disciplines to work together and strengthen their skills.
The launch forms part of ENCAC’s efforts to create a more supportive environment for artists and improve the development of the country’s creative industry.
Eswatini National Council of Arts and Culture CEO Stanely Dlamini mentioned that the initiative represented an important moment for Eswatini’s arts and culture sector.
“Creatives can now come for rehearsals with full equipment provided and a live band from the residents band led by Siyabonga Maphanga at lower prices than the ones privately owned.. Also with the worship encounter happening on the 1st of August artists have already booked for rehearsals.” Said Dlamini.
The facilities are also expected to support the growth of regional festivals, which can create opportunities for artists while benefiting businesses involved in transport and event services.
As the creative industry continues to grow, access to rehearsal spaces and professional equipment remains important for artists seeking to improve their work and reach wider audiences.
The mobile stage and rehearsal space are expected to give creatives practical tools to develop their craft while creating more platforms for Eswatini’s talent to be seen and heard.
