MBABANE- The African Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS) in Ethiopia has opened new doors for comedy duo Gogo and Slwane, exposing them to influential African creatives and paving the way for upcoming continental collaborations.
The duo travelled to Addis Ababa on Wednesday last week to attend the prestigious ASMIS gathering, which was held from Thursday to Friday. They returned home on Sunday after participating in discussions, networking sessions and creative exchanges with some of Africa’s leading digital personalities.
Among the notable figures present at the summit were William Last KRM, Bradley The Gen Z Giant and Tenge Tenge. The event created a platform where creators from across the continent could connect, collaborate and exchange ideas aimed at growing Africa’s digital and creative industries.
Speaking on their experience, Gogo and Slwane described the summit as life-changing and career-defining. The pair said the exposure reshaped the way they view content creation, branding and the business side of entertainment.
“The Ethiopian experience was beyond life, career and brand changing; it has firmly flipped the trajectory of our work,” the duo stated.
They further explained that the summit was more than just a networking opportunity, but rather a learning environment that equipped them with valuable lessons in creativity and entrepreneurship.
“The experience was more than an event to us, it was a masterclass in both life and our business as artists, brands and content creators,” they added.
According to the pair, one of the standout moments was witnessing established influencers with a combined following of more than 400 million followers working alongside emerging creatives. They said the interaction inspired them and highlighted the importance of collaboration over competition within the African creative space.
The duo also praised the Ethiopian government for supporting the summit, saying the initiative demonstrated how African governments can invest in the creative economy and digital innovation.
Gogo and Slwane revealed that the summit has already resulted in future collaboration opportunities, with joint content projects expected to be released from June. Although they did not reveal the identities of their collaborators, they assured supporters that the partnerships would soon become visible through their upcoming productions.
“We came to Ethiopia as creators from different parts of Africa, but we left as family for life,” they said.
