MHLAMBANYATSI – Motorists travelling along the Zondwako/Mhlambanyatsi public road have been urged to immediately seek alternative routes following the collapse of the Great Usuthu River Bridge at Mahhashini.
The Royal Eswatini Police Service (REPS) issued an urgent public warning on Sunday, advising motorists and members of the public not to attempt crossing the damaged bridge as it now poses a serious danger to both life and property.
“Please do not attempt to use the bridge, as it poses a serious danger to life and property,” REPS warned.
The collapse is expected to disrupt movement along the route, particularly for communities and motorists who rely on the bridge to travel between Zondwako, Mhlambanyatsi and surrounding areas.
Motorists have consequently been advised to exercise extreme caution, plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes until authorities declare the crossing safe for public use.
REPS has emphasised that public safety should remain the priority, urging road users to comply with the warning and avoid taking unnecessary risks around the collapsed structure.
Members of the public are also encouraged to alert other road users who may be travelling towards the affected area.
