MANZINI – Gospel musician Sipho “Big Fish” Makhabane has expressed pride in the work of Siphiwo Ndoni, encouraging the younger generation of gospel artists to keep building the industry and supporting one another.

Makhabane shared the sentiments during the launch of the Mount Zion Experience Foundation, where he praised Ndoni for the way he is using his platform to contribute to the growth of gospel music in Eswatini.

Having been involved in music since the 1980s, Makhabane reflected on his long journey in the industry and the importance of ensuring that the next generation continues the work.

Despite decades in music, the veteran remains active and committed to gospel, saying his continued involvement is part of a bigger responsibility to leave something meaningful behind for younger artists. He encouraged Ndoni to continue pushing his vision while also helping other gospel musicians find their footing.

Makhabane’s message centred on the importance of artists working together rather than building their careers in isolation. He urged the younger generation to keep the gospel music industry alive by creating opportunities for one another and contributing to its continued growth.

For the veteran musician, artists such as Ndoni represent the future of an industry that has been shaped by generations of gospel musicians. The occasion also saw Makhabane make an announcement concerning the Eswatini Praise Talent Search, a platform he hosted recently to identify and develop gospel talent.

He announced Siphiwo Ndoni and Nothando Dlamini as judges for the talent search, bringing the two into a role that will see them contribute to identifying and assessing emerging gospel talent.

The appointment places two younger voices alongside an established figure in the gospel music fraternity, reflecting the importance of passing experience and responsibility from one generation to another.

Makhabane’s message ultimately went beyond congratulating Ndoni on his work. It was a call for continuity for established artists to create space for those coming behind them and for young musicians to take responsibility for the future of the industry.

After beginning his musical journey in the 1980s, the veteran continues to perform and contribute to gospel music, while increasingly looking towards the generation that will carry the industry forward.

For Ndoni and other emerging gospel artists, Makhabane’s challenge is clear: keep pushing, support one another and ensure the legacy of gospel music continues.
