MBABANE-The breathtaking Maletsunyane Falls is set to become the backdrop for a cultural crossover as Eswatini’s Sancheziey prepares to take his energetic sound across the border to Lesotho for the Maletsunyane Braai Festival.
The Eswatini artist is among the performers announced for the festival, where he will bring his music and Swazi identity to a Basotho audience in what he describes as a major milestone in his growing career.
For Sancheziey, who has been building momentum around his music and the Salukazana Brand, the performance is more than another booking — it is an opportunity to carry Eswatini’s name, sound and spirit onto an international stage.
“I’m not just going there as Sancheziey; I’m carrying the name, sound and spirit of Eswatini with me,” he said.
The festival, taking place at Maletsunyane Falls in Lesotho, will feature four stages and brings together music, entertainment and African culture against one of the region’s most spectacular natural landscapes.
Sancheziey said his appearance marks his first major international festival of this magnitude, making the opportunity particularly significant.
Rather than leaving his identity at the border, the artist plans to make it central to his performance.
His Swazi identity naturally influences the way he tells stories, the sounds he uses and the energy he brings to the stage. As his music reaches new audiences, he wants listeners to hear something modern and African while still recognising the unmistakable influence of Eswatini.
For festivalgoers, Sancheziey promises a high-energy “Salukazana experience”, with singing, dancing and surprises designed to leave the Basotho crowd wanting more.
“I want people to leave saying, ‘Sancheziey really showed up,’” he said.
Beyond the performance itself, the artist is looking forward to connecting with Basotho audiences and experiencing their culture.
For him, music provides a bridge between people from different countries, allowing African artists and audiences to discover their shared cultural connections.
The journey to Maletsunyane also comes at an important point in Sancheziey’s career.
The growth surrounding his uMntfwana weLive project and appearances on bigger stages have taught him to approach his craft with greater discipline and intention. He says every performance is now an opportunity to introduce audiences to who Sancheziey is.
The bigger ambition is to take the Salukazana Brand across Africa and eventually beyond the continent, through collaborations, international performances and music that connects people.
Maletsunyane, therefore, represents more than a festival appearance.
It is another step towards Sancheziey’s vision of making Emaswati proud while showing the continent that Eswatini has a powerful sound of its own.
