MBABANE – Twenty-seven primary school learners from different schools around Mbabane have gained essential computer skills through a holiday programme aimed at preparing young emaSwati for an increasingly digital future.
The Basic Computer Skills Programme, conducted by the Eswatini National Library Service from August 11 to 21, 2026, introduced the learners to foundational computer skills while building their confidence in using digital technology.
The programme forms part of Government’s efforts, through the Ministry of Information, Communications and Technology, to equip children with digital skills from an early age and ensure they are better prepared to participate in the country’s digital economy.
Through the initiative, the learners were exposed to basic computer knowledge intended to provide a foundation for further digital learning and development.
The programme also reflects the growing importance of ensuring that children are not left behind as technology continues to influence education, employment and everyday life.
By targeting primary school learners, the initiative seeks to build digital confidence at an early stage, helping nurture a generation capable of making use of technology and contributing to Eswatini’s digital transformation.
At the conclusion of the programme, all 27 learners were awarded certificates in recognition of their participation and completion of the training.
The initiative highlights the importance of investing in digital education for young people as part of efforts to build a skilled, confident and future-ready Eswatini.
