LOMAHASHA RESIDENTS TURNED UP IN NUMBERS FOR SHUKUMA ESWATINI

PIGGS PEAK – Lomahasha Inkundla came alive as community members turned out in large numbers to participate in Shukuma Eswatini on Saturday, demonstrating the power of sport, movement and community engagement in promoting a healthier and more active nation.

The Shukuma Eswatini initiative brought together residents of Lomahasha for a day filled with energy, participation and togetherness, as people embraced the opportunity to move, connect and enjoy an active lifestyle.

The impressive turnout reflected the spirit behind the initiative, “Sport for One, Sport for All,” which seeks to encourage people from all walks of life to participate in physical activity and recognise sport as a tool for healthier and more connected communities.

Adding to the occasion was the presence of the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Bongani Nzima who demonstrated his commitment to the initiative by making the journey from Nhlangano, where he had started the day attending the marathon, to Lomahasha to join and support the community.

The Minister’s participation further highlighted the importance of leadership in promoting an active nation, as he engaged with community members and participated in the activities on the ground.

During his visit, the Minister also identified emerging talent within the community, highlighting the potential that exists among young people and other participants when opportunities are created for them to showcase their abilities.

The Lomahasha event not only celebrated physical activity but also showcased the strength of community spirit, proving that sport can bring people together while creating opportunities for talent identification and development.

With smiles, movement and enthusiastic participation dominating the day, Lomahasha undoubtedly showed up and demonstrated that an active community is a connected and empowered community.
