LUDZIDZINI— Michael Goode, from England currently working at Ubombo Sugar, joined Emaswati at the Umhlanga 2026 Main Day celebrations, describing the experience as an opportunity to celebrate with the nation while learning more about the rich Swati culture and traditions.
Goode said attending the Main Day was a memorable experience, giving him the chance to witness first-hand the cultural pride, unity and excitement that surrounds the annual Umhlanga ceremony.
From exploring the food stalls and tasting traditional Swati dishes to watching maidens showcase their dancing and singing skills in the arena, Goode immersed himself in the different aspects of the cultural celebration.
He said the atmosphere at the event was vibrant, with thousands of Emaswati coming together in celebration while proudly preserving traditions passed down through generations.
For Goode, the experience offered more than just entertainment. It provided an opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation of Eswatini’s cultural heritage, the significance of Umhlanga and the important role the ceremony continues to play in bringing people together.
