EZULWINI— Rain fell, temperatures dipped and the night could easily have been written off, but inside Sibane Sami Hotel on Saturday, September 5, music warmed the room as Spring Soul Sessions transformed an idea into a memorable live experience.
Hosted by singer and creative Sethu Magagula, the inaugural session brought together local musicians and music lovers for an evening of soulful performances, connection and celebration. The event started at 6pm and featured supporting acts including Zwile, Judah Soul, Teqnosoul, Giftedkosie, Locco, Llucid Music, Nkosi Ash and Paige, with DJ Bloss and Master Jack also contributing to the night.
For Sethu, the success of the event was made even more meaningful by the audience that showed up despite the difficult weather conditions.
“I feel incredibly grateful, proud and honestly a little emotional now that it’s over,” Magagula said.
“To be honest, the event didn’t just meet my expectations,it exceeded them. The turnout was much bigger than I anticipated, especially considering the weather.”
The night was not only about Sethu taking centre stage, but also about creating a platform for other creatives to showcase their talents. She said the supporting artists brought different sounds, personalities and expressions to the stage, while the audience responded with singing, dancing and enthusiastic participation.
One of the biggest challenges, according to Magagula, was bringing together the many moving parts behind a live production. She credited DJ Bloss, Master Jack, Pumba’s Creations and Yolisa Nkosi for standing with her from the beginning, while Sibane Sami Hotel and Blue House Entertainment were also recognised for their contribution.
Magagula also expressed gratitude to her family for being her biggest cheerleaders throughout the journey.
Beyond entertainment, she hopes Spring Soul Sessions becomes a space where people can connect, slow down and appreciate Eswatini’s creative talent.
With the strong response to the first edition, Magagula believes this is only the beginning, saying she hopes the sessions can grow into a recurring live music platform.
“I definitely think this is only the beginning,” she said.
