MSAHWENI – Ludzibini High School in Timphisini Inkhundla, northern Hhohho Region, is taking steps to improve sanitation and create a healthier learning environment through the construction of additional toilets, with support from the Micro Projects Programme and a contribution from parents.

The project is aimed at addressing the school’s sanitation needs by providing learners and staff with improved toilet facilities. The initiative is being implemented with assistance from the Micro Projects Programme, while parents are also contributing by topping up 10 per cent of the total project cost, demonstrating the community’s involvement in improving conditions at the school.

The construction is expected to provide the school with better sanitation facilities and contribute towards a cleaner and more suitable environment for teaching and learning.

Ludzibini High School is located in Msahweni under Timphisini Inkhundla and is listed as a rural community school in the northern Hhohho Region.

The involvement of parents in the project highlights the importance of community participation in supporting development of initiatives at schools. By contributing a portion of the project cost, parents are complementing government-supported efforts and helping the school address an essential need.

The toilet construction comes as part of efforts to strengthen basic infrastructure at the school, ensuring that learners have access to facilities that support their health, hygiene and dignity while at school.

For learners, improved sanitation can mean greater comfort during the school day and a healthier environment in which to concentrate on their studies. The project therefore goes beyond construction, as it seeks to improve the daily school experience for both learners and teachers.

The partnership between the Micro Projects Programme, the school and parents demonstrates how government support and community participation can work together to address infrastructure challenges in rural schools.

As construction progresses, the project is expected to contribute to improved sanitation at Ludzibini High School and provide facilities that will serve the school community for years to come.
