MBABANE– A total of 19 600 SAPEMP beneficiaries, including 14 100 farmers, are set to benefit from improved project monitoring as the project strengthens its use of digital systems to manage agricultural information.
The move towards digital monitoring was strengthened through training for 91 farmer leaders and extension officers, equipping them with practical skills to capture, manage and report agricultural information more effectively.
The training brought together 56 farmer cluster leads and 35 extension officers representing 37 farmer clusters across 40 project sites.
Participants were introduced to farmer diaries, the SAPEMP digital cluster tool and the EWADE/SAPEMP information system, which is supporting the transition from paper-based records to digital data collection.
With 3 000 farmers already profiled, the system is being developed to strengthen the management of information across the wider beneficiary base.
The digital approach is expected to make it easier for those supporting farmers to track project progress, services and results, ensuring that better information is available from the field to guide project implementation.
The initiative therefore strengthens SAPEMP’s ability to monitor agricultural activities while improving information management for the thousands of beneficiaries targeted by the project.
