MANZINI – There is something about a braai that turns food into a social event, and Nhlangano is preparing to take that feeling to another level.
The town will host its inaugural Nhlangano Best Braai on 31 October 2026, with South African act Umafikizolo bringing a musical flavour to a day centred on food, entertainment and community.
The event will take place at King Sobhuza II Stadium, where the braai culture will meet live entertainment as attendees gather for the new food-focused event.
While the grill will be at the heart of the occasion, Umafikizolo’s appearance adds another reason for music lovers to make their way to the stadium. The act will provide live entertainment, bringing a South African sound into the Nhlangano setting.
For many people, a braai is about much more than what is on the grill. It is the conversations while the fire is being prepared, music playing in the background, friends and family gathering around and the inevitable debate over who really knows how to braai.
That familiar experience is being brought into a larger public setting through Nhlangano Best Braai. The event is scheduled to run from 6am to 6pm, making it a full-day gathering where food and entertainment can share the spotlight.
Its slogan, “AKUSINYAMA BU TSEGETSEGE!”, captures the playful spirit behind the concept, while the choice of Nhlangano as its home gives the town an opportunity to showcase its food and entertainment culture.
As the inaugural edition, the event will also be introducing a new addition to Nhlangano’s social calendar, with the organisers bringing together the ingredients of a traditional gathering and a larger entertainment experience.
With Umafikizolo on the programme, the stage will have its own attraction while the braai brings people together around the food. The recipe for the day is simple: good food, good company and music to keep things moving. And in Nhlangano, the fire is about to get serious.
