MANZINI – Not every song begins with a carefully planned studio session. Sometimes, a few jokes between friends and a moment worth celebrating can be enough to create a record.
That is how Virtousouls’ latest release, Siyokukhomba featuring Bavarah, came together, turning a simple conversation about achievements into an upbeat Deep House celebration.
The song centres on the idea of celebrating small wins and being unafraid to show people how far you have come, regardless of how big or small the achievement may be.
According to the artists, the idea started when Bavarah and Mafikzo, Virtousouls’ producer, were exchanging stories and showing each other some of their personal achievements. What began as playful jokes eventually became an impulse to record, giving birth to the track.
That spontaneous beginning is reflected in the song’s mood. Siyokukhomba carries a bright, energetic feeling, capturing the excitement of having something good to share.
For Virtousouls, the release is also another step into Deep House. It marks their second instalment in the genre, following what the duo describes as encouraging reception from listeners.
The duo says its Deep House material has received particularly positive responses compared with some of its Amapiano releases. With the genre continuing to attract renewed attention, Virtousouls are exploring where the sound can take their musical journey.
Their collaboration with Bavarah was equally natural. Coming from the same neighbourhood, the artists already shared a connection, allowing the record to develop organically rather than through an elaborate plan.
Since its release, Siyokukhomba has been gaining momentum and reaching more listeners. LStill, the artists say the song is about more than numbers. At its heart is a simple reminder: celebrate your wins, even the small ones. With more music promised, Virtousouls are also teasing another release within the next two weeks.
