MANZINI – For local entertainers, the stage is not only about the music or the moves. The way an artist looks has increasingly become part of the performance, and local artist Stella Jacobs, popularly known as Inkabikazi, and DJ and dancer Sergy are taking that visual side of their work into new partnerships with Lush Hair Eswatini.
The two creatives announced their appointments as brand ambassadors, with the partnerships set to bring their work in music, DJing and dance together with the hair brand.
Inkabikazi described the deal as a partnership between Gems of Africa and Lush Hair Eswatini, with the artist becoming one of the faces associated with the brand. For Jacobs the partnership with Lush Hair Eswatini, is a sign that local creatives are increasingly being seen and valued.
“For a warrior like me to be trusted by such a big brand, it shows that local talent is being seen and valued,” she said. The collaboration adds another layer to the identity Inkabikazi is building as a local artist, where fashion, hair and performance all contribute to how she presents herself to audiences.
Sergy, who is known for her work as a DJ and dancer, also announced her partnership with the brand positioning the collaboration around the visual demands of her work, particularly her appearances on stage and in music videos.
“Becoming a Lush Hair Eswatini ambassador means a lot to me because it is not only a partnership with a brand I believe in, but also an opportunity to express another side of my creativity. As a DJ and dancer, my image is a big part of my performance, and hair plays an important role in completing that image. I’m excited to represent Lush Hair Eswatini, connect with my audience in a new way, and inspire people to be confident in their own style.” She said
The partnerships come at a time when local entertainers are increasingly building identities that stretch beyond their primary creative roles. For artists and performers, the look that accompanies a performance can become just as recognisable as the music, dance or personality behind it.
For Inkabikazi and Sergy, the new roles therefore place hair directly within the creative spaces they already occupy from the stage to music videos and other public appearances. For Lush Hair Eswatini, the collaborations also bring the brand closer to local creative spaces through two personalities whose work is rooted in performance. The message is summed up in the identity built around a name: keep the crown healthy, keep fighting like a warrior.
