MBULUZI – Fifty corporals have graduated from the Mbuluzi School of Infantry after successfully completing a seven-week Drill and Duties Course aimed at strengthening discipline, leadership and the effective execution of military responsibilities within the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force (UEDF).
The graduation marked an important milestone in the professional development of the junior officers, equipping them with essential knowledge and practical skills to carry out their daily duties and promote discipline among soldiers serving in different battalions.
The ceremony was attended by UEDF Commander General Moses Mashikilisane Fakudze, who served as Guest of Honour and underscored the central role of discipline in maintaining an effective and professional military force.
Addressing the graduates, General Fakudze emphasised that discipline remains a fundamental pillar of military service, encouraging the corporals to uphold the values expected of them as they assume greater responsibilities within the force.
He further urged the graduates to remain informed, maintain a willingness to learn and adapt continuously to changes in the military environment.
The Commander’s message highlighted the importance of combining discipline with continuous learning to ensure that military personnel remain prepared to meet evolving demands and execute their responsibilities effectively.
“Discipline remains a cornerstone of effective service,” General Fakudze emphasised, reminding the graduates that their conduct and commitment would be essential in maintaining standards within the UEDF.
He also encouraged the newly trained corporals to approach their duties with an open mind, recognising that professional growth requires a commitment to acquiring new knowledge and adapting to changing circumstances.
The seven-week course provided the junior officers with training in drill and duties, preparing them to play a more effective role in guiding troops and ensuring that established military procedures and standards are observed.
Defence Sergeant Major Fana Dlamini expressed appreciation for the opportunity given to the corporals to undergo the training, noting that the course would equip them to implement and enforce discipline where necessary.
The training is expected to strengthen the corporals’ ability to exercise their responsibilities confidently, contribute to orderly military operations and support the maintenance of discipline among personnel under their supervision.
The graduation also reflected the importance of investing in the professional development of junior military personnel, whose responsibilities include helping to translate military standards and instructions into practice at unit level.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, their representative thanked the UEDF Commander for believing in them and providing them with the opportunity to participate in the course.
The representative also expressed gratitude to the instructors for imparting the knowledge, drills and practical skills needed to perform their daily duties effectively while working with troops across the different battalions.
The graduates’ appreciation highlighted the contribution of military instructors in preparing personnel for the practical demands of service and strengthening the chain of command through structured training.
With the completion of the course, the 50 corporals are expected to apply the lessons acquired at Mbuluzi School of Infantry in their respective assignments, helping to promote discipline, effective leadership and adherence to military standards.
Their graduation represents a continued investment in building a disciplined and professionally equipped defence force, with trained junior officers expected to contribute to the UEDF’s operational effectiveness.
The emphasis on discipline, adaptability and lifelong learning also reinforces the importance of preparing military personnel to respond to changing operational requirements while maintaining the standards required of them.
As the graduates return to their respective duties, the knowledge and skills gained during the seven-week programme are expected to support their growth as junior leaders and strengthen the UEDF’s commitment to professional military service.
