EZULWINI– His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini has reassured His Majesty King Mswati III that he will stand by him “until the end of days”.

The AmaZulu monarch made the remarks in the early hours of Monday, 27 April 2026, during a garden party held at the Palazzo Ezulwini International Convention Centre (ICC).

The function formed part of celebrations marking King Mswati III’s 40 years on the throne and his 58th birthday. The national festivities began on Friday, 24 April 2026 and continued until Monday.

King Misuzulu made the declaration while proposing a toast to King Mswati III, Her Majesty the Indlovukazi and guests attending the event.

He said he would remain with the Eswatini monarch, just as he had stood with him for many years.

Historic Ties Between Kingdoms

The AmaZulu King said developments in Eswatini reminded him of historic moments linking the kingdoms of Eswatini and KwaZulu.

Relationship between the two royal houses stretched back to the 19th century and continued to grow stronger through shared history and family bonds.

His reflections drew thunderous applause from guests attending the garden party.

King Misuzulu said such memories often moved him deeply and brought tears of joy.

He recalled several significant years connected to Eswatini and the AmaZulu nation, namely 1968, 1974, 1978, 1982 and 1986.

Although he did not elaborate on every reference, he said 1974 was especially important as it was the year of his birth.

He also said that in 1978 he was with King Mswati III at Somhlolo National Stadium.

He further recalled being with the King in 1982 at Prince of Wales in Mbabane.

Years Of Significance

The year 1968 remains notable in Eswatini history as the birth year of King Mswati III and the year the country attained independence from the United Kingdom.

For the AmaZulu nation, 1968 was also significant because it was the year His Majesty King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, father of King Misuzulu, was named successor following the death of King Cyprian Bhekuzulu.

King Goodwill formally ascended the throne in 1971 after a period in hiding due to assassination threats. He ruled until his passing in March 2021.

The year 1982 is remembered in Eswatini for the passing of His Majesty King Sobhuza II.

In 1986, King Mswati III was installed as King, a milestone commemorated during the recent celebrations.

Praise For Eswatini

King Misuzulu also delighted guests by praising the beauty of the women attending the event, drawing laughter and applause.

He said Eswatini was a blessed nation and urged emaSwati to celebrate themselves.

The AmaZulu monarch further commended the people for placing God first in all they did, saying nations that failed to do so faced destruction.
